Jan has a degree in ceramics and printmaking from the Museum Art School, now called the Pacific Northwest College of Art.

As a Fulbright scholar, Jan went to Japan and taught lessons in Italic calligraphy, bookbinding, and drawing.

Jan teaches in multiples disciplines at MAC and has taught both youth and adult classes for the Center.

In addition to teaching at MAC, Jan is also a retired art teacher from Arts & Communication and Southridge High School in Beaverton.
