Sharon Eng

Violin Instructor

Sharon Eng studied with Raphael Spiro and graduated from Portland State University; the Juilliard School (BM, MM viola performance); and the University of South Australia (PhD, Management).

In 1995, Sharon founded Classical Nuances, which featured oboe, viola, and piano and performed on four continents, including concerts at the United Nations in New York City; the Athens Opera House; Canberra’s National Museum; Seoul’s Performing Arts Center; and for the Sultan’s family in Kuwait.

Sharon played in the American Ballet Theatre and New York City Opera orchestras and toured China twice as co-principal viola with the Polish Sinfonietta.

Sharon has served on the faculty of the International Music Institute and Festival (IMIF) at Mount St. Mary’s University in Maryland since 2002.

Currently, Sharon plays with the Raphael Spiro String Quartet, as well as the Madrona Viola Duo with fellow MAC instructor Shelley Mathewson.

Sharon teaches strings at Multnomah Arts Center and freelances locally.
