Patricia Cheyne

Visual Arts Instructor

Patricia Cheyne describes her art as a mix of landscapes, soulscapes, and mythscapes. She is influenced by immediate visual experiences – such as the forests, valleys, and shores of the Pacific Northwest. Nature has been an inspiration to her from an early age growing up in New England. From Patricia’s youngest memories, she has been fascinated by the texture and ruggedness of the stone-filled earth and rock walls that are everywhere in this landscape.

Patricia’s primary medium is printmaking, specifically collagraphs and solar plates; she also uses other media such as bookmaking, letterpress, papermaking, fiber arts, drawing, and installation pieces. In all media she is interested in the jagged edges of the subject, in its physicality, and its surface. Patricia wants her work to appeal to the viewer physically and spiritually as well as aesthetically.
