During college, Laura Taylor was accepted at the University of Richmond (London, England) and studied the Art and Architecture of Europe, traveling through seven countries studying the masters.
Following graduation from OSU, Laura has created pottery on the wheel for over 20 years in a pottery studio in her home. From clay she turned to exploring hand-blown glass, glass fusing, glass etching and lamp working. Renting studio space at a glass school in North Portland, Laura creates lamp work glass beads and turns them into beautiful jewelry. She opened Greenstone Studio, in 2012 and her hand-built jewelry can be found in several Northwest galleries.
From 2009-2011, Laura was the program manager for Portland Public School’s Art Literacy Program at Hayhurst Elementary where she continued her work with students, helping them to explore all that art can offer a young mind by tapping into the classes she’s taken during her own artist journey in paper-making, basket weaving, marbling, creative writing, photography and darkroom developing, papier-mâché, hand quilting, woodblock printing, woodworking and book binding. She is an artist, teacher, business owner and mother of two.
