Applied Arts – Clay
Kurtis Piltz began his training in ceramics in high school from 1970-1972. He then continued at PCC, and studied with Jim Schuld and Alyce Flitcraft, circa 1974-1977. Then he studied at PSU with Andrea Joseph and Ray Grimm, and became the head studio assistant from 1978 thru early 1980.
Kurtis has also attended workshops with: Betty Feves, Stephen De Staebler, Paul Soldner, Toshiko Takaezu, Rudy Autio, Peter Voulkos, Tom Coleman, P.K. Hoffman, and Patrick Horsley. He began teaching at MAC in the spring of 1982, teaching a wood bending class. He then became the ceramics coordinator in 1983. Over the years, Kurtis has taught classes at MAC to youth and adults in woodshop and a multitude of ceramics classes.
