Julia Hernandez has worked with young children for over 23 years as a preschool teacher and as a community trainer through the PSU Oregon Registry. She has also taught music and art classes for young children and parents transitioning to Kindergarten for over 15 years. Her curiosity and excitement reflect the variety of engaging experiences she creates for the preschoolers in her care. She has attended UCLA’s Advanced Core Program for Early Childhood Education, Reggio Emilia workshops, Montessori workshops, and Head Start trainings that have given her the tools to create well-rounded classroom experiences developed for each individual child.
Julia has traveled around the world and lived in Greece for several years. From her travels, she has developed an appreciation for many different cultures and approaches to learning, and has adapted them to fit into her own teaching style. Julia is originally from California, where she was a photographer and taught Head Start, training parents and teachers in curriculum development and social/emotional well-being workshops. She moved to Portland in 2005. She loves the outdoors and all that Portland has to offer.
