Joan-Carrol Banks received her B.F.A. from UCLA and has been teaching acting for four years, although she’s been studying it for most of her adult livfe. She works as a professional sctress in film, commercials, theatre and as a playwriting coach/performer for troubled kids with Playwrite, Inc. Over the last twenty-five years she has been involved in projects with Ursula K. LeGuin, Tim Robbins, Shane Black, Oscar winners Richard Dreyfus and Marcia Gay Hardin. She’s most recently appeared in Untraceable with Diane Lane. “I believe in my heart that if the desire is great enough, with proper training, anyone can be a decent actor – anyone. For the things that are required for a riveting, unpredictable performance are the very things that make us utterly fascinating as ordinary human beings when we think no one is watching. Learning how to be human in front of an audience – now that’s the trick.”
