Denise Gaines has been working with young children for over 30 years. While studying at Sterling College and the University of Vermont, Denise designed interactive programs that introduced preschoolers and kindergarteners to farm animals. Denise has worked extensively with children with special needs throughout the Northeastern United States, where she designed and implemented programs that enabled children with visual and hearing impairments to spin and dye yarn, as well as weave tapestries. Most recently, Denise spent four years as the assistant teacher at a play-based preschool in SW Portland.
Denise is a restoration weaver and she repairs, restores, and conserves antique Navajo blankets for museums, galleries, and private collectors. Denise is very excited to be part of the team at Little Artists Preschool!
