Performing Arts Director
Eric Dash has been the Performing Arts Director of Multnomah Arts Center since 1987.He is a classical composer, song-writer and jazz pianist who has performed primarily in the Santa Fe, New York City, and Portland areas. He holds a BA in music from Bennington College and an MFA in Music Composition from Sarah Lawrence College. He studied classical piano privately with Ira Brant and jazz piano with Lennie Tristano.
Eric began teaching guitar classes at Multnomah Arts Center in 1981. He has also at different times taught children’s composition and cartooning. For 20 years, starting in 1983, Eric taught a weekly pre-school sing-along class. In addition, he has led children’s sing-along concerts at community centers, performance halls and schools, primarily in the Portland area. Eric has released five albums of original songs for children, including his latest album of musical stories, “Zirp the Fox Goes For a Ride” (available through iTunes, Amazon and CDBaby).
