Community & Connection
Community & Connection, a juried show of ceramic art work sponsored by MAC, coincides with the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts conference, which is being held in Portland March 22-25. Ceramic work from MAC instructors, students & staff, Oregon Potters Association members, and other greater Portland-area artists will be included. The exhibit may be seen through and closes at 5pm, April 4.
Exhibiting artists will be exploring the idea of community and connections in their work. As an organization that has been serving the greater Portland area since 1978, Multnomah Arts Center is deeply committed to fostering creative relationships with our students, teachers, colleagues, neighbors, and friends. How we reflect our inner and outer worlds, how we express our diversity, how we build bridges and learn from each other is at the heart of who we are and what we do.
Connections and community are themes that touch every part of our lives – both in our daily and in our creative practices. We need these things to get through our days – and also make our artwork. Learning, sharing, questioning and seeking answers, constantly gaining knowledge from one another – the teacher becoming the student and the student becoming the teacher. Synchronous learning is empowering and essential to the artmaking process. MAC has a vibrant ceramics community that extends past its walls. This connection strengthens our collective voices and brings vitality to our creative and personal development.
