The Multnomah Arts Center begins an exciting new chapter with the move of its 16+ year old printmaking program from the basement studio to one of the 1000+ square foot cottages on the west end of our campus – with beautiful windows, added ventilation and space for more students! This move brings many improvements to the printmaking program including the addition of a Ray Trayle press.
The new “Trayle Studio” is named after Ray Trayle, the maker of our press, and his sister, Helen – the original owner of the press. Both went to school here when it was the Multnomah School many years ago.We will launch the new studio with a series of workshops and will offer a more extensive series of classes Spring Term 2013. It will not only serve as a printmaking space, but as a book arts studio with workshops, events and other activities that engage the community in the printed world and beyond. We will be partnering with other arts organizations and offering family/child friendly classes and workshops as well, with non-toxic techniques.
